Re-purposed large Moroccan brass cone. This great vintage souk find in the city of Fez represents a traditional “tbak” used in lavish Moroccan homes. It is the lid of a large brass tray standing on three little brass feet. Part of the tea ceremony arrangement, the tray table is used for plates piled high with an assortment of Moroccan cookies or for a presentation of a large fruit platter. It is also used for covering the bread basket in Moroccan parties. You still see these large brass containers in Moroccan wedding ceremonies and other festivities in Fez and few other Moroccan cities. The brass is hand engraved and pierced by a master artisan.
